We all made it through the first week of 2024. Nice job. Got the decorations down? Give yourself a pat on the back! Now, batten down the hatches as we get ready for some wild weather tomorrow. We will start out windy with rain showers in the morning, then strong thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. Damaging winds, large hail and possibly a tornado with some storms. If you didn’t get around to bringing down those outdoor decorations over the weekend you may want to take care of them today–or at least bring the snowmen inside. Did you know that today is Elvis’ birthday? He would be 89 years old today if he were still alive. Now let’s TCB in his name!

U-Haul Growth Index Names Wilmington Among Top 25 Cities for Migration in 2023
[WWAY] Wilmington ranks 22nd in U-Haul's Growth Index for 2023, showcasing positive growth. While arrivals decreased by two percent, departures saw a more significant drop of over six percent, contributing to a net gain in U-Haul customers. DIY movers arriving in Wilmington constituted 51.5% of one-way U-Haul traffic, emphasizing the city's appeal. Wilmington joins two other North Carolina markets, Charlotte (7th) and Wake Forest (15th), in the top 25 growth cities list.
Wilmington Police Department to close Southeast Patrol Station
[WECT] The Wilmington Police Department is closing its Southeast Patrol Station on January 15 due to the building's poor condition and its end of use. Patrol officers in that area will relocate throughout the city, and they will partner with Novant Health Company Police for additional workspace. Non-emergency communication with the police is encouraged via phone, visiting WPD Headquarters, or online services. Emergency situations should still be directed to 911.
