Red Cross Distributes Supplies
Willkommen zum Oktoberfest!
Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, is the world's largest and most famous beer festival. It has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century. Here's a brief overview:
Oktoberfest originated in Munich in 1810 as a celebration of the October 12th marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig (who later became King Ludwig I) to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. The citizens of Munich were invited to join in the festivities, which included horse races, parades, music, dancing, and of course, beer.
Over the years, the festival was extended and moved to September to take advantage of better weather conditions. The 2024 Oktoberfest begins on September 21 and ends with a traditional gun salute on October 6.

Red Cross Distributes Supplies at Carolina Beach
[WECT] The Red Cross is assisting residents with free cleaning supplies to help with flood cleanup. Kits containing bleach, bug spray, wipes, rakes, and shovels are available at the Carolina Beach Recreation Center. The Red Cross will be offering support until Friday or as long as needed. Residents like Shawn Gibbs are grateful for the aid, praising the supplies provided to help restore their homes and community.
