New Hanover County Commissioners spent more than $25,000 pursuing acquisition of Cheetah Gentleman’s club

[WECT] The New Hanover County Commissioners spent over $25,000 in legal fees exploring the eminent domain BEFORE contacting the club owner! Large Invasive Lizards, Tegus, Prompt Concern in South Carolina: Report Sightings for Confirmation

[WECT] Wildlife agencies in South Carolina are urging the public to report sightings of the invasive South American tegu lizard. Growing up to 4 feet long and weighing 10 pounds, tegus pose a threat to local ecosystems as they eat other reptiles and the eggs of ground-nesting birds, including turkeys and quail. Owners often release tegus into the wild when they underestimate their size. The lizards can also carry salmonella. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SC DNR) has received over 100 reports, confirming 24 black and white tegus and 2 red tegus in various counties. Citizens are encouraged to report sightings with photos for official confirmation.
