MONDAYS TOGETHER WITH

Good Morning Wilmington!

Pretty much perfect weather this weekend. I went to a number of grocery stores over the weekend–one of which was Aldis. When I arrived there was a woman on her way out to the car. She offered me her cart–which as you know if you have been to Aldis means she gave me her quarter deposit to use the cart. What a nice gesture! On my way out I saw a young family and offered them the same cart. I wonder how many times that cart was used before being chained back up and held hostage for a quarter.

USCG Rescues Four People from an Overturned Catamaran Off the Coast of NC

[WECT] The Coast Guard rescued four people from a 60-foot catamaran 150 miles off of the coast of North Carolina. The captain and crew of the catamaran indicated that both of their “Side hatches broke” leading to catastrophic flooding. The Coast Guard was made aware of the capsized boat by an EPIRB beacon aboard the yacht. The 60’ Moon Dragon luxury catamaran charters between the Mid-Atlantic and the Virgin Islands–not unlike this one which charters for around $60,000/week. It will be interesting to see if they do some sort of investigation to see why those hatches failed on such an impressive yacht. Thankfully the rescue equipment worked, the captain and crew new how do use it and that thanks to the efforts of the Coast Guard, nobody was harmed.
