Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue Wins 2024 South Atlantic Regional Championship

[WB Ocean Rescue] Congratulations to Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue for securing first place in 2004 South Atlantic Lifeguard Association for the fourth consecutive year in North Myrtle Beach. As they prepare for the USLA National Lifeguard Championships in South Padre, Texas, next month, we extend our gratitude to all the guards, including those who stayed back to keep our home beaches safe.

$242M Grant Secured for Cape Fear Memorial Bridge Replacement

[WWAY] Wilmington, NC, has received a $242 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to replace the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge. This funding, part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, covers about half of the $485 million project. Local officials are discussing bridge design and environmental impacts. The bridge, built in 1969, is crucial for regional traffic and the economy. Completion is expected to benefit Wilmington significantly.

American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sean Thomas Gerard was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and currently resides in Wilmington, NC. Sean fronted Onward, Soldiers and released two albums with the band on Winoca Records and an EP independently. 2011's LP "Ghosts in this Town" - 2012's LP "Monsters" and 2016’s EP “Daydreamer”.
