Saw this little guy while walking the dogs. Just a reminder for me to keep my head up and keep going!

The Kentucky Derby winner is Mystik Dan, a 3-year-old colt trained by Kenneth McPeek and ridden by jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. He won the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby on May 4, 2024, in a photo finish, edging out Sierra Leone by a nose. Mystik Dan’s odds to win were 18:1.

[WECT] During his visit to Wilmington on Thursday, May 2 President Biden pledged $3 billion to replace toxic lead pipes nationwide, $76 million allocated for North Carolina. Funding aims to replace 300,000 lead pipes in the state, with 325 already approved for Wilmington. Biden's plan targets complete lead pipe replacement in the next decade to ensure clean water. Additionally, $90 million earmarked to tackle health hazards in public housing.

Wilmington embarks on a pilot project to revolutionize water treatment, potentially changing the way we drink
[WECT] A pilot project in Wilmington aims to develop a new method to remove PFAS from drinking water, funded by the state and conducted by NC Pure scientists. The project, underway at the Sweeney Water Treatment Plant, seeks to lower water treatment costs and improve efficiency. While it's early to determine its impact, there's hope it could revolutionize PFAS removal nationally.

NCDOT Donates Bike Helmets to Wilmington for Low-Income Children
[WECT] The NCDOT has donated 100 bicycle helmets to Wilmington's Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization for low-income families. Helmets are part of the Bike Helmet Initiative to promote safety.The helmets will soon be distributed to schools, nonprofits, law enforcement agencies and other organizations for bike safety events.
