IN THIS ISSUE: UNC considers scrapping DEI

MONDAYS TOGETHER WITH

Good Morning and Happy Earth Day Wilmington!
I stopped by Porter Neck’s new bottle shop, BrewHa Friday evening for their grand opening. Great family-friendly place with a nice chill vibe much like Ogden’s old Fermental. I met the owner, Jesse Wrangler. I enjoyed the conversation, the live music by Tater-Pop and the delicious beer. What really made my night is as I happened to be staring at the marquee behind the bar it changed to say PORT CITY PULSE IN THE HOUSE! Thank you Jesse!

From Local Gem to Global Fame: Wilmington's Shuckin' Shack Goes Viral with Mega Gregga Challenge
[WECT] A viral video featuring competitive eater Adam Moran trying an 8-pound lobster roll at Shuckin' Shack in Wilmington brings global attention to the restaurant. The meal, dubbed "Mega Gregga," becomes a sensation, drawing thousands of views and highlighting the restaurant's laid-back atmosphere. Despite its growth to 18 franchises, Shuckin' Shack maintains its friendly vibe. Customers brave enough to attempt the colossal dish can win a free meal and bragging rights. Moran's video underscores the power of social media in boosting local businesses.

Diversity Debate: UNC Considers Scrapping Inclusion Programs
[SPECTRUM] The UNC Board of Governors' Governance Committee swiftly voted to repeal and replace a diversity policy, which may eliminate DEI positions across 17 schools. Republican-led efforts mirror nationwide trends, impacting universities in Florida, Texas, and Kansas. Critics argue these actions undermine diversity initiatives. Democrats and former UNC leaders criticize the move, while conservative groups see it as a positive step. The proposal awaits a full board vote, raising concerns about educational equality and state influence over university policies.

Trump Rally in Wilmington Postponed Due to Weather
[WECT] Former President Trump postpones rally in Wilmington, citing weather concerns near the airport. Sends message to participants from airplane via loudspeaker. Says he will be back to Wilmington soon.
