PCP - WED AUG 28: Seahawk statue has a new home

IN THIS ISSUE: Brunswick Schools Launch Yondr Phone Pouch Program

WEDNESDAYS WITH YOU

Good morning Wilmington–

I stopped by to see where the UNCW Seahawk statue landed. Turned out it didn’t have far to fly. The statue was moved from being the centerpiece of the traffic circle back just enough to get off the circle and onto the Hoggard Lawn in front of the same Hoggard Hall–offering essentially the same landscape and background. I spoke to a gentleman who managed the move. He told me that the statute was moved to help keep students from standing in the road to take photos of the statue. now there is a large brick landing to take photos from that’s off the road. He said they will be putting benches on this landing and that the flagpoles in the background will eventually be moved back to the traffic centerpiece in the Seahawk’s old home.

Hope all the students that started their first day of school yesterday are off to a great start!

Here’s today’s issue–
