Fort Liberty May Become Fort Bragg Again—But With a Twist

[Military Times] Fort Liberty may soon be renamed Fort Bragg again—but this time, it’s not for the Confederate general. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered the name change in honor of Pfc. Roland L. Bragg, a WWII paratrooper and Silver Star recipient. Some see it as a fitting tribute, while others call it a political maneuver. The renaming could cost millions, adding controversy to the debate. Roland Bragg’s family was surprised but honored by the news, while critics argue it undermines the initial decision to remove Confederate names from military bases. The fate of the name change remains uncertain.
