Cape Fear Bridge Replacement Plans Stir Community Concerns

[WECT] Neighbors voiced concerns about the proposed options to replace the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, citing worries about the impact on historic communities and potential displacement of homes and businesses on the Wilmington side of the river. The Department of Transportation shared design plans and addressed community questions at a recent meeting.

NC Offers Flexible Voting Options After Hurricane Helene

[WECT] The N.C. State Board of Elections has introduced provisions to aid voters in 13 counties affected by Hurricane Helene. These measures include flexibility in changing voting sites, recruiting more poll workers, and offering in-person absentee ballot requests. Voters can request absentee ballots online or in-person, with the option to drop them off at any county's election board. Voter registration remains open until Oct. 11, with online registration available via the DMV.
