NCDOT Reopens 600 Roads as Hurricane Helene Recovery Continues
[NCDOT] NCDOT has reopened over 600 roads in North Carolina following Hurricane Helene's destruction, but recovery continues with nearly 600 road closures still in place. The hurricane caused unprecedented damage, especially in Western NC, and repair costs are expected to reach several billion dollars. NCDOT is working with local, state, and federal agencies to repair roads, restore power, and provide emergency supplies to affected areas. The public is urged to avoid non-essential travel to facilitate ongoing recovery efforts.
