Protesters & police clash as UNC Interim Chancellor has Palestinian flag replaced with American flag during protests yesterday

[WRAL] Pro-Palestine protests turned chaotic at UNC-Chapel Hill as police detained demonstrators. Tensions soared when the American flag was replaced with a Palestinian one, prompting police intervention and class cancellations. The Palestinian flag was eventually lowered and the American flag raised as officers set up a perimeter around the structure.

"To take down that flag and put up another flag, no matter what other flag it is, that's antithetical to who we are and what this university stands for and what we have done for 229 years," UNC Interim Chancellor Roberts said, "This university doesn't belong to a small group of protesters. It belongs to every citizen of North Carolina. The flag represents all of us."
