Natasha Marcus Calls for Stronger Storm Defenses After Hurricane Helene

[NC Newsline] State Sen. Natasha Marcus, running for North Carolina Insurance Commissioner, stressed the need for proactive steps to bolster infrastructure, update building codes, and improve flood mitigation in response to extreme weather like Hurricane Helene, which caused severe flooding and fatalities in Western North Carolina. She emphasized updating flood maps and policies to protect vulnerable communities. Her Republican opponent, Mike Causey, urged storm victims to seek assistance from the Department of Insurance and encouraged community support during recovery efforts.
