Wilmington to Get Direct Flights to Hartford, Orlando, Fort Myers, and Providence

[WECT] Breeze Airways will launch new nonstop flights from Wilmington to Hartford, Orlando, Fort Myers, and Providence starting February 2025. This expansion makes Wilmington the third North Carolina city served by Breeze, joining Raleigh-Durham and New Bern. To celebrate, Breeze is offering a 35% discount on roundtrip fares for tickets purchased by August 9, 2024, valid for travel from August 28, 2024, to May 13, 2025. This move aims to enhance travel options and affordability for Wilmington residents.

Federal Aid Approved for North Carolina Counties Affected by Tropical Storm Debby

[WECT] President Joe Biden has ordered federal assistance to support state and local responses to Tropical Storm Debby. The aid, coordinated by FEMA, will cover 75% of costs related to shelters, evacuations, and emergency measures in affected North Carolina counties, including Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, and Pender. Governor Roy Cooper declared a State of Emergency earlier, urging residents to take precautions against severe weather. Price gouging rules are in effect, with reports of violations encouraged to be reported to the Attorney General’s office.
