PCP-MON SEPT 23: Two Systems in the Atlantic

IN THIS ISSUE: Staffers Resign from Mark Robinson's Gubernatorial Campaign

MONDAY TOGETHER WITH YOU

Good morning Wilmington!

I hope you were able to enjoy one of the many festive celebrations over the weekend.

It’s looking like we have two systems on the radar. The first one is following Ian’s path through Florida’s gulf. It sound like this system has a high probability of being a hurricane of significant–strength making landfall in Florida on Wednesday/Thursday.

The current models for the second disturbance show it heading north with little probability of landfall. Of course this could change.

In today’s Port City Pulse:

Staffers Resign from Mark Robinson's Gubernatorial Campaign Amid Controversy

[WWAY] Several senior staffers from North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson’s gubernatorial campaign have resigned following a CNN report accusing Robinson of making offensive posts on a pornography website years ago. The posts reportedly included racist and antisemitic remarks, including praise for Hitler and attacks on Martin Luther King Jr. Robinson has denied the allegations and remains optimistic about his chances in the election against Democrat Josh Stein. Despite growing controversy, Robinson has yet to provide a detailed response, while prominent Republicans express concern over his political future.

Leland to Host Storm Recovery Meeting on Sept. 25

[WECT] Leland, N.C., will host a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 25, to help property owners recover after Potential Tropical Cyclone #8. Town staff from Planning & Inspections and Emergency Management will discuss recovery options, financial assistance, flood prevention, and building safety protocols. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in Leland Town Hall and will include a Q&A session for attendees.
