Carolina Bays Parkway Extension Aims to Connect Brunswick and Horry Counties

PublicInput — The N.C. and S.C. Departments of Transportation are planning a 19-mile extension of the Carolina Bays Parkway (S.C. 31), connecting Horry County to U.S. 17 in Brunswick County. The proposed project includes a new multi-lane expressway with limited access, designed to reduce congestion and improve travel times between the two states. With population and tourism on the rise, the extension is expected to enhance mobility, safety, and regional connectivity for both residents and visitors. The project remains in its study phase, focusing on environmental and design alternatives.
