IN THIS ISSUE: Court Rules Against Chemours | Cooper: Not the Right Time for VP Bid
Good morning Wilmington!
I helped volunteer for the Port City Rock Jam event this past Saturday. What a fun and successful event! Super-talented musicians, beautiful weather, great venue, fun & friendly vendors and audience. It was truly a great time!

On Sunday I stopped in at By The Beach Brewery to have a few beers and to tie dye a t-shirt. Perfect thing to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon after playing some pickleball. I was told to wait a day before taking the rubber bands out. I’ll let you know how it turned out!

We have the potential to receive 7”+ of rain in the next 7-10 days. Plan accordingly!

EPA's GenX Health Advisory Stands, Court Rules Against Chemours
[NC Health News] The 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the EPA's health advisory for GenX in groundwater, rejecting Chemours' challenge. The advisory limits GenX to 10 parts per trillion, aimed at protecting public health. Chemours, which produces GenX at its Fayetteville facility, must continue providing clean water to affected areas under a 2019 consent order. This ruling supports ongoing efforts to manage the impact of "forever chemicals" linked to various health issues.
Demand Soars for NC School Scholarships, Lawmakers Urged to Act
[Spectrum] North Carolina parents rallied to urge GOP legislators to fully fund the Opportunity Scholarships program after a budget shortfall left nearly 55,000 children on a waiting list. The program, which supports private and religious school attendance, saw a six-fold increase in applications due to recent policy changes. While the Senate passed a funding measure, the House did not, leading to a delay in scholarship awards and financial strain on families. Lawmakers aim to resolve the issue in September.

Cooper: Not the Right Time for VP Bid, Fully Supports Harris
[WECT] Governor Roy Cooper visited Brunswick County's Green Swamp Preserve to discuss environmental grants but also addressed his decision not to join Kamala Harris as her VP pick. Cooper expressed strong support for Harris’s presidential campaign, citing concerns over a potential Republican takeover in North Carolina if he ran nationally. He highlighted Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson's previous attempts to assume more power and the potential distractions this could cause.
