I stopped by Chow Town for their grand opening on Friday — and it’s a cool setup! With live music, six food trucks, a full-service bar, and plenty of free parking, it’s easy to see why it’s already a hit. I’m looking forward to checking out their rotating lineup of trucks in the weeks ahead.

Diver Recovers Dozens of Ancient Shark Teeth — Including Megalodon — Off Wilmington Coast

[CBS 17] Diver Christian Corbitt embarked on a two-day expedition 35 miles off the North Carolina coast, using a closed-circuit rebreather system to explore the ocean floor for extended periods. The challenging dives required deep decompression stops and careful gas management to avoid life-threatening risks. Corbitt recovered 33 complete fossil shark teeth — including Megalodon specimens — as well as fossilized whale bones and other prehistoric relics, some millions of years old. His finds are shared and sold via Instagram at @apex_fossils.

NC Allocates $9.3M to Shore Up Beaches — Oak Island Among Top Recipients

[WECT] Oak Island is receiving $3 million in grant funding from the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality’s Coastal Storm Damage Mitigation Fund, joining four other coastal communities in a $9.39 million effort to strengthen beaches and dunes. The funds will support storm resilience, environmental preservation, and local economies. Other recipients include Dare, Carteret, and Currituck counties. All applicants who responded to the state’s funding call were awarded. Officials say the work will help make coastlines safer and more sustainable for the future.
