Wilmington Entrepreneur Mike Duncan, Founder of Sage Island, Dies at 55
[Wilmington Biz] Wilmington is mourning the loss of Mike Duncan, a beloved entrepreneur and founder of Sage Island, who passed away Tuesday at age 55 after an electric bike collision with a deer in Watauga County. Duncan was a driving force in Wilmington’s business community, launching Sage Island in 1997 and later founding Warehouse Skateboards. He most recently served as VP and GM at OneWater Marine and Revver Digital. Colleagues remember him as a visionary leader, supportive mentor, and vibrant personality who touched countless lives. Details about memorial services have not yet been released.

Freeman Park Overnight Camping Halted Ahead of Beach Renourishment Project
[WECT] Overnight camping at Freeman Park in Carolina Beach has been suspended until further notice due to significant beach erosion and preparations for an upcoming beach renourishment project. The Town of Carolina Beach announced the decision on Facebook, stating that anyone with existing reservations will receive an email cancellation notice and a full refund. Visitors with questions are encouraged to contact the town directly at (910) 458-4614.
