North Carolina Invests $2 Billion to Expand High-Speed Internet to Rural Communities
[WUNC] North Carolina is committing over $2 billion in federal and state funding to expand high-speed internet access across rural communities. Through programs like Completing Access to Broadband (CAB), providers such as Brightspeed are installing fiberoptic lines to connect homes that have long relied on slow DSL connections. The initiative has already helped bring broadband to 250,000 homes and businesses, with speeds up to 20 times faster than traditional connections. The goal is to achieve near-universal broadband coverage and close the digital divide statewide.
