UNCW Researchers’ Greenland Expedition Inspires Award-Winning Documentary
UNCW UNCW researchers are featured in the award-winning documentary A Map of the World in Time, which premiered at the Raw Science Film Festival in New York. The film follows the 2023 Baffin Bay Deglacial Experiment (BADEX), a 34-day Greenland expedition studying the retreat of the ice sheet after the last ice age. Led by UNCW’s Shannon Klotsko and international partners, the project included graduate students and highlighted both scientific discoveries and life aboard the research vessel, combining contemporary footage with archival expeditions from the 1950s and 60s.

The memorial also offers a military discount on admission, with hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., encouraging the public to celebrate and reflect on the contributions of Marines and all service members.
