NC Attorney General Jeff Jackson Visits Wilmington Food Pantry Amid SNAP Benefit Delays
WECT SNAP benefits are set to be delayed for nearly 1.5 million North Carolinians, prompting Attorney General Jeff Jackson to sue the USDA and visit Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard in Wilmington. Jackson joined 25 other states in challenging the federal agency’s decision to suspend November benefits due to the government shutdown. Local food pantries like Mother Hubbard’s are already seeing a surge in demand, serving nearly 50% more families as residents brace for the impact. Jackson warned there’s “no way to fill the gap” if benefits remain delayed.
