Raleigh firefighter Jalen Snipes completed a remarkable 150-mile, five-day run across the North Carolina Piedmont, finishing Sunday at Charlotte Firehouse 1. The trek—totaling roughly 44 hours on the road—raised over $12,000 for the North Carolina Firefighters Fund, which supports firefighters and their families statewide. Snipes’ final miles were escorted by Charlotte Fire Engine 11, and he was greeted with a celebratory welcome from Charlotte firefighters, friends, and family in honor of his charity effort.

First Trailer Released for Holiday Rom-Com “Merv,” Filmed in Wilmington Area
Port City Daily The trailer for “Merv”, a holiday rom-com starring Zooey Deschanel and Charlie Cox, has dropped ahead of its Dec. 10 debut on Amazon Prime. Filmed in 2024 across Wilmington, Carolina, and Kure beaches, the movie follows a separated couple trying to cheer up their dog, Merv, with a Florida vacation filled with yoga, beach antics, and even a psychic visit. Deschanel plays Anna, whose playful antics bring humor and holiday spirit to this heartwarming story of love, family, and the lengths we go for our pets.

Celebrate Ukrainian Culture at Wilmington’s Waterline Brewery This Weekend
WECT Waterline Brewery in Wilmington will host a vibrant Ukrainian Christmas Festival on Nov. 22 from 1–6 p.m., featuring traditional foods, live performances, and cultural activities. Festivalgoers can enjoy a varenyky-eating contest, polka dance competition, shopping from over 20 vendors, and a silent auction. The event, organized with Ukrainians in the Carolinas, offers a chance to learn about Ukrainian traditions and experience holiday customs unique to Ukraine. Guests from Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh will also perform, making it a lively celebration of community, culture, and cuisine.
