Maersk Picks Charlotte for New North American HQ, Bringing 520 High-Paying Jobs

Spectrum Local News Maersk, one of the world’s largest logistics companies, has selected Charlotte as the site of its new North American headquarters, a move expected to bring 520 jobs and a $16 million investment to Mecklenburg County. The positions—spanning finance, HR, commercial strategy, and technology—will average nearly $101,000 per year, well above the county’s current average salary. State leaders say the decision underscores North Carolina’s growing reputation as a global business hub. Maersk officials add that the choice reflects strong confidence in the region’s workforce and long-term economic potential.

Wilmington Families Can Pick Up Free Turkey Vouchers at Good Shepherd’s Grocery Giveaway

WECT The Good Shepherd Center is giving out 250 Thanksgiving turkey vouchers during its weekly Grocery Giveaway this Wednesday. Vouchers are first-come, first-served, and will be distributed from noon to 1 p.m. at 811 Martin Street. The Grocery Giveaway provides produce, bread, and pantry staples to local families, and Executive Director Katrina Knight says the vouchers will help ease the financial burden for families hoping to enjoy a special holiday meal. The Center continues to serve Wilmington’s community with essential food support year-round.
