Kure Beach Enacts Law Against Feeding Birds on the Beach

[WECT] The Kure Beach Town Council has passed an ordinance prohibiting the feeding of birds on or near the beach. The decision, made on May 21, came after complaints from citizens about seagulls being fed near beach access points. Mayor Allen Oliver noted that feeding birds alters their behavior and can cause health issues for humans. Violators face a $25 fine, with repeat offenses resulting in a misdemeanor charge.
