MONDAYS TOGETHER WITH

Good Morning Wilmington!
My son and I took a tour of NC State this weekend. What an impressive campus! We are so fortunate to have great college options. Looking forward to touring UNCW in the spring.

We have some great weather ahead of us this week. The temps don’t change much but there’s a good chance of showers over the weekend and more of the same temp with showers into next week.

Controversial Vote: Cape Fear Bridge Replacement Considered with Toll Option
[The Seahawk] The Wilmington Metropolitan Planning Organization (WMPO) voted 8-5 to consider tolling as a potential solution for the replacement of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge, sparking controversy among residents. Concerns over toll impact on lower-income earners and transparency in toll operations were raised. Proponents argue tolling is necessary to fund the project, while opponents question its fairness and necessity, proposing alternative funding methods. The decision, amidst heated public debate, highlights the complexities of infrastructure funding and community concerns.

Power Surge: Duke Energy's Proposal to Meet Green Energy Goals Stirs Debate
[YAHOO] Duke Energy's proposal for meeting North Carolina's future energy needs involves significant changes, including adding offshore wind and increasing power capacity. The state's demand for energy is projected to surge, driven by economic growth and the adoption of electric vehicles. Duke aims to diversify its energy sources, but the plan could lead to delays in meeting emission reduction targets and higher customer bills. While Duke emphasizes reliability and affordability, critics argue for a greater focus on renewable energy like solar and wind. The proposal will undergo review by the Utilities Commission, with public hearings scheduled before a decision is made. This plan could have significant implications for North Carolina residents, affecting both their energy sources and monthly expenses.
