MONDAYS TOGETHER WITH YOU
Happy Veterans Day Wilmington
On Saturday, I had the chance to visit the Veterans Day celebration downtown. The clear sky, brisk air and warm sun provided the perfect backdrop for a parade filled with heartfelt tributes, community pride, and a shared sense of appreciation for those who have defended our freedom.
To all veterans who have bravely served, thank you for your dedication and sacrifices—this edition is devoted to you.

UNCW Named Best School for Veterans in NC, Top 30 Nationally
[UCNW] UNC Wilmington (UNCW) has been recognized as the top school for veterans in North Carolina and ranks 8th in the Southeast in the 2024 Military Times "Best for Vets" list. This marks the seventh consecutive year on the list, with UNCW placing in the top 30 nationwide. The university, established as a G.I. Bill school in 1947, has a longstanding commitment to veteran support, including its Veterans Hall and Purple Heart designation. Military support remains central to UNCW’s mission, enriched by its history and dedicated resources.

New NC Superintendent Mo Green Prioritizes Teachers, Literacy, and Student Success
[EdNC] Maurice “Mo” Green, North Carolina's newly elected State Superintendent, addressed his plans following his narrow victory. Green emphasized a focus on student achievement, teacher pay increases, public school funding, and fostering school choice within public schools. He praised outgoing Superintendent Catherine Truitt for her literacy initiatives and committed to a smooth transition while building on her efforts. Green highlighted his experience in Guilford County Schools, stressing community involvement and listening to stakeholders. Acknowledging voters' concerns, he called for unity to celebrate public school successes while tackling challenges like mental health and discipline, aiming for improved student outcomes.
