TUESDAYS TOGETHER WITH YOU

Good morning Wilmington!

Winter is making itself known in the Cape Fear region this week. A cold rain system will move in Wednesday, with temperatures dropping from the 40s to the 30s. While Wilmington will likely stay above freezing until late evening—limiting any icing to elevated surfaces—areas farther north could see more significant freezing rain. If you're heading toward Raleigh, be prepared for icy roads. The chill continues Thursday with highs around 40 and a cold, clear night dropping into the 20s. By Friday, the sun returns, but temperatures will stay crisp in the 40s. Be sure to bundle up—it’s going to be cold.

Protesters Rally in Wilmington Against Trump Administration

[WECT] Around 100 protesters gathered at Wilmington City Hall to voice opposition to President Trump’s administration, citing concerns over education, immigration, the environment, and the economy. The rally, organized by Lynn Shoemaker, featured speeches highlighting frustrations with Trump, Elon Musk, and Congressman David Rouzer. Republican leaders responded, defending Trump’s policies. Organizers plan another rally next month with a more focused message.

Southport Names 25-Year-Old Noah Saldo as Interim City Manager

[WECT] Southport has a new interim city manager—25-year-old Noah Saldo—following the sudden resignation of Stuart Turille, Jr. Saldo, previously the city clerk, was unanimously appointed by the Board of Aldermen. Despite his young age, Saldo brings experience in public administration and municipal governance. He acknowledges skepticism about his age but emphasizes his commitment to public service and the city’s progress. Southport has yet to begin searching for a permanent replacement.
