FRIDAYS TOGETHER WITH YOU

Good morning Wilmington!

Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, and today he would be 94 years old. While he is best known for his leadership in the civil rights movement and his iconic "I Have a Dream" speech, he was also a vocal critic of war—particularly the Vietnam War. On April 4, 1967, he delivered a speech titled "Beyond Vietnam – A Time to Break the Silence." Exactly one year later, on April 4, 1968, he was tragically assassinated.

In today’s Port City Pulse:

  • JetBlue to Offer Daily Nonstop Service Between Wilmington and Boston Starting April 30

  • Cape Fear Under 'Very High' Fire Danger Alert

JetBlue to Offer Daily Nonstop Service Between Wilmington and Boston Starting April 30

[WECT] JetBlue is launching daily nonstop flights between Wilmington International Airport (ILM) and Boston (BOS) from April 30 to October 25. The airline’s A220 aircraft will offer wider seats, large windows, and in-flight entertainment. ILM Airport Director Jeff Bourk calls it an exciting addition, providing more travel options, including international connections.

Cape Fear Under 'Very High' Fire Danger Alert

[NC State] The Cape Fear region is under a "Very High" fire danger warning for the next few days, according to the NC Forest Service and State Climate Office. Dry conditions and vegetation increase the risk of wildfires spreading quickly. Residents should check fire danger maps and avoid outdoor burning to prevent potential fires.
