CFCC Music Instructor Ernesto Ferreri Debuts His Updated Octet Op. 32 at Carnegie Hall, Inspiring Local Talent

[CFCC] Cape Fear Community College music instructor Ernesto Ferreri marked a major career milestone by performing his composition, Octet Op. 32, at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Originally composed in 1979 and updated in 2013, the richly layered work was performed by the Connecticut Virtuosi under Maestro Damiano Tognetti. Ferreri, a CFCC faculty member since 1993, described the performance as a homecoming, particularly as a New York native. His international career has taken him from Tehran to Poland, and CFCC President Jim Morton praised his achievement as an inspiration to students and a testament to the college’s exceptional talent.

Governor Stein Announces Over $265 Million in Funding for 99 Projects to Improve NC Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure

[WECT] Governor Josh Stein’s office announced over $265 million in funding for 99 water and wastewater projects across 45 NC counties. After reviewing 203 applications totaling $1.63 billion, the State Water Infrastructure Authority approved initiatives aimed at tackling PFAS contamination and replacing lead pipes. Projects include installing water lines in New Hanover County, building a new well and water tank in Fair Bluff, and upgrading systems in Gaston, Dare, Craven, and Halifax counties. DEQ officials say these investments will enhance public health and ensure all North Carolinians have access to safe, clean drinking water.
