MONDAYS TOGETHER WITH YOU
Good morning Wilmington!
Netflix was the big loser during the Tyson /Jake Paul fight as subscribers dealt with buffering issues during the most highly anticipated fight in years.
We watched the Tyson fight–at least to the best that Netflix buffering would allow us to. There were a couple of exciting fights before the main event including Katy Taylor’s controversial win against Amanda Serrano in what was a brutal fight.
The last half of the Tyson/Jake Paul fight were hard to watch as Tyson seemed to disengage–giving Jake Paul the win.

Former Panthers Linebacker Faces Charges for Jan. 6 Capitol Breach
[WECT] Former Carolina Panthers linebacker Antwione Williams, 31, has been charged with assaulting law enforcement and other crimes linked to the January 6, 2021, Capitol breach. Williams faces felony charges of assaulting officers and obstructing law enforcement, along with several misdemeanors, including engaging in violence and disruptive conduct. Court documents allege that Williams was among the first to breach a restricted perimeter and physically overcame Capitol Police near the Peace Monument. Williams, who was released on bond, is set for another court appearance later this month. A former fifth-round NFL draft pick, Williams played for several teams but never appeared in an NFL game after his initial stint with the Detroit Lions.

[Star News] Cucalorus Film Festival returns to Wilmington for its 30th year from Nov. 20-24. The festival, founded by local filmmakers in 1994, has become a major cultural event in the city. This year’s highlights include an opening-night oyster party, screenings of 88 short films, 17 narrative features, and 10 documentaries. Key films include “Lilly,” starring Patricia Clarkson, and “Operation Taco Gary’s,” featuring Simon Rex. The Twinkle Doon collective, which founded Cucalorus, returns with a short film by Bo Webb and his son, Mack. Local projects and performances, including the Dance-A-Lorus series, will showcase the festival’s deep ties to the Wilmington arts community.
