Inside Wilmington’s Warming Shelter: 200 People with Countless Stories
[WHQR] Wilmington’s warming shelter is more than just a refuge—it’s a lifeline. Pastor Meg McBride and volunteers at Grace United Methodist Church have opened their doors to 200 people, including veterans, disabled individuals, and families, offering warmth and community. Stories like Lily Hurst, a disabled woman relying on her service dog, and Michael Anthony Bell, a veteran unable to access aid for his inherited home, highlight the challenges of homelessness. Volunteers and guests alike are calling for a permanent shelter, stressing that Wilmington can—and should—do better.
