NC Bills Propose Removing Concealed Carry Permit Requirement

[WWAY] Gun owners in North Carolina may soon see big changes to concealed carry laws. Two proposed bills—Senate Bill 50 and House Bill 5—would remove the permit requirement, allowing anyone 18 and older to carry a concealed weapon without mandatory training. Currently, obtaining a permit requires a background check and a firearms safety course. Gun shop owner Kurt Lieberman says there’s already confusion among customers about existing laws, and these changes could add to it. If passed, training would become voluntary rather than required.

NCDOT Seeks Public Feedback on 2026-2035 Transportation Plan – Here’s How to Have Your Say

[NCCOT] The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking public input on its draft 10-year transportation plan for 2026-2035. Residents can submit feedback online through April 4 or attend in-person drop-in sessions at local NCDOT offices. Meeting details will be posted as schedules are finalized. NCDOT will also provide accommodations for those with disabilities. Now’s the time for North Carolinians to weigh in on the future of roads, bridges, and transit across the state.
