MONDAYS TOGETHER WITH YOU
Good morning Wilmington!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas week and found time to relax and celebrate with loved ones. Unfortunately, we start the week with some sad news. Former President Jimmy Carter has passed away at the age of 100. The Hill has shared a touching photo montage highlighting his presidential and post-presidential legacy. Closer to home, Wilmington mourns the loss of beloved actress Linda Lavin, star of Alice, who passed away at 87. Linda was a cherished member of our community and the founder of the Red Barn Studio Theatre.

Nonprofit Emergency RV Restores Hope with Housing for Families Displaced by Hurricane Helene
[WWAY] Emergency RV, a nonprofit founded by Woody Faircloth, is helping families in Western North Carolina displaced by Hurricane Helene. The group collects, restores, and donates RVs to families left without housing. With 700 families still on the waiting list, the group delivered its 77th RV and aims to reach 85 by January 1.

Surf City Begins Channel Dredging, Boosts Safety and Beaches
[Surf City] Surf City is launching the Banks Channel Shallow Draft Navigation Project to expand and deepen waterways, building on Topsail Beach’s earlier dredging work. The project improves navigation, supports tourism and fishing, and replenishes Surf City’s beachfront with dredged sand. Starting November 1, 2024, and finishing by March 2025, the effort includes temporary crossings to maintain public access during construction.
