UN Appointed Researchers Accuse Chemours and DuPont of Contamination Scandal

[WRAL] A group of independent researchers appointed by the United Nations Human Rights Council has accused Chemours, a company and DuPont's subsidiary, of displaying a blatant disregard for human rights and environmental protections. The researchers expressed alarm in letters to the company leaders, citing Chemours' admission to dumping PFAS (forever chemicals) into the Cape Fear River for years, resulting in the contamination of the drinking water supply for hundreds of thousands of people. The group voiced serious concerns about the human rights and environmental impacts, particularly the discharge of toxic PFAS, and criticized the EPA, NCDEQ, and courts for inadequate enforcement and remedy of legal actions. The researchers accused Chemours of global PFAS contamination and highlighted the EPA's approval of moving over 4 million pounds of foreign waste containing GenX from the Netherlands to the Fayetteville Works facility.
