PCP MON MAY 13: NC considers tax rebates

IN THIS ISSUE: NC bill eyes crypto mining regulations | Live Nation offering $25 concert tickets until tomorrow

MONDAYS TOGETHER WITH YOU!

Good morning Wilmington!

I’m a big believer in cryptocurrencies. I think they’re going to play a big role on our financial system over the next decade. If this is something you’re interested in and want to know more, I recommend talking to people in the crypto community. There is a small group of enthusiasts that meet at the Brewer’s Kettle on the corner of Oleander and College every Monday @6PM. Stop on by on any given Monday and ask the bartender who might be around to talk to.

The Wrightsville Beach Farmer’s Market will be open today for the first time in 2024. If you get a chance, stop on by and support local farms, artists and vendors!

[WRAL] North Carolina anticipates a budget surplus exceeding $1 billion for the upcoming fiscal year, prompting discussions on potential tax rebates for taxpayers. Senate leader Phil Berger contemplates allocating $1,000 per taxpayer but acknowledges challenges due to the large price tag. Lawmakers consider various options, including savings, one-time spending, or returns to taxpayers.

NC Bill Eyes Crypto Mining Regulations in Three Counties

[NC Newsline] A proposed bill in the North Carolina legislature aims to empower Henderson, Polk, and Rutherford Counties to regulate or ban crypto mining, addressing environmental and community concerns. Sponsored by Sen. Tim Moffit, the law targets noise and energy consumption associated with mining operations. Despite previous attempts in Cherokee County to seek legislative action, concerns about noise pollution and electricity usage persist. Henderson County's temporary ban underscores growing awareness of the impacts of crypto mining. Moffit's office remains silent on the bill's genesis.
