MONDAYS TOGETHER WITH

Good Morning Wilmington!

Reverend Martin Luther King was born on January 15,1929. Today would have been his 94th birthday. While King is known for his contribution to the civil rights movement and his famous “I Have a Dream” speech, he was perhaps less known for speaking out against war–specifically against the war in Vietnam. In April 4, 1967 he gave a speech titled “Beyond Vietnam – A Time to Break the Silence.” it was EXACTLY one year later on April 4, 1968 that he was assassinated.

Balancing AI Integration: UNCW Focuses on Nurturing Human Skills Alongside Technology

[SOURCE] Educators at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) are adapting to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT, into learning environments as the spring semester begins. Dr. Karl Ricanek, a professor in computer science and engineering, emphasizes the need for a reevaluation of traditional teaching methods to accommodate the growing popularity of AI. He advocates embracing AI as a tool rather than attempting to prohibit its usage, emphasizing the importance of teaching students to critique and navigate the evolving AI landscape. Despite AI's influence, Dr. Ricanek emphasizes the irreplaceable role of human educators in teaching critical thinking and skills in higher education.
