There was a big fire on Market Street yesterday. Thankfully nobody was hurt. I’m sure we’ll learn more about this throughout the day today.

If you’re near UNCW today around noon, know that UNCW will test its outdoor siren system. This is only a test and no action is needed from the public.

Wilmington Fire Department and New Hanover County Fire Rescue Respond to Market Street Blaze

[WECT] Firefighters from Wilmington Fire Department and New Hanover County Fire Rescue tackled a structure fire at 6820 Market Street. New Hanover County Fire Rescue leads the response, with assistance from WFD, WPD, Duke Energy, and Wrightsville Beach Fire Rescue Truck 81. Chief Darren Mickler reports 98% containment, with no injuries. Traffic advisories issued for northbound Market Street during the evening commute.

Last Call for Bar Appetizers? New Law Puts Snacks on the Chopping Block

[WRAL] Starting this spring, new state law may force bars to stop serving appetizers due to public health standards. Bar owners face financial strain to meet requirements, including food safety training and equipment upgrades. Some argue they can't afford the changes.
