From Vision to Reality: iFly's Long Road to Launching Wilmington's First Indoor Skydiving Facility

[Wilmington Biz] After six years of planning, iFly broke ground on Wilmington's Eastwood Road for an indoor skydiving facility, offering a unique experience for residents and visitors. The project, costing nearly $12 million, aims for an August opening, despite challenges like rising material costs. The facility, co-founded by Patrick Maguire and George Jamison, will feature a 270-degree simulator for public use, a first for Conflict Kinetics. The project reflects years of dedication and persistence from the team, with hopes for a successful launch.

New Hanover County Planning Board Blocks Affordable Housing Proposal

[WECT] The New Hanover County Planning Board rejected a proposal for a 128-unit affordable housing complex near New Beginnings Christian Church due to concerns over density and consistency with neighboring developments. The fate of the project now rests with the NHC Board of Commissioners, but without planning board support, approval seems unlikely.
