New Hanover High Launches Construction Tracker as Renovations Begin

[NHHS] New Hanover High School is undergoing construction, and the community can track progress via a new webpage launched by New Hanover County Schools. Phase I includes stabilizing the foundation and repairing masonry. Despite the construction, the school remains structurally safe, and classes will start as scheduled on August 27. An open house on August 21 will allow students to ask questions and tour the school.

Mel Gibson's 'Monster Summer' Filmed in Southport Gets October Release

[Star News] The Mel Gibson-starring movie filmed in Wilmington and Southport in 2021-2022 has been renamed "Monster Summer" and will be released on October 4. The coming-of-age horror/comedy thriller, originally titled "Boys of Summer," features scenes shot in downtown Southport and stars Gibson as a retired detective helping teens fight a mysterious entity. The film also stars Kevin James, Lorraine Bracco, and Patrick Renna.
