From Classroom to Comedy: E.J. Masicampo's Dual Role in Education and Stand-Up
[Spectrum 1] E.J. Masicampo, a psychology professor at Wake Forest University, combines his academic expertise with stand-up comedy to represent the Asian American community and promote diversity in media. Named North Carolina's funniest person in 2022, Masicampo's performances highlight the importance of self-reflection, humor, and representation, inspiring both students and audiences.

Innovative BeBot Cleans Up Wrightsville Beach
[PBS] BeBot, a solar- and battery-powered beach sweeper, is now operating in North Carolina to clean beaches of small trash like cigarette butts and plastic. Managed by Keep New Hanover Beautiful, this 1,350-pound robot efficiently covers high-traffic areas, raising awareness about hidden beach litter. BeBot sifts through sand, collecting debris without harming the shoreline. It's currently used at Wrightsville Beach, with hopes of expanding its reach.

NC Lawmakers Push More Youth Offenders to Adult Court
[WRAL] The North Carolina General Assembly has passed legislation requiring more young offenders to be tried in adult court, altering the 2019 "Raise the Age" law. This move aims to alleviate the burden on juvenile courts but has faced criticism from civil rights advocates who argue it dismantles youth-focused reforms. The bill awaits the governor's decision.
