We’re in that season now. The Halloween stores have commandeered the empty commercial buildings. Some of your neighbors have already put up their gravestones and skeletons. Costco starts pulling out their artificial Christmas trees. It’s all beginning to accelerate. Before you know it we’ll be pulling down the Halloween decorations for the Christmas lights. It’s indeed time to start thinking about those holidays before they creep up on you! 👻 💀

Enchanted Airlie

We all enjoy our beloved holiday tradition, Enchanted Airlie–which takes place during the holiday season. Enchanted Airlie is appropriately named for a magical transformation that takes place at Airlie Gardens to the delight of visitors eager to get into the holiday spirit. Enchanted Airlie tickets for the general public go on sale on November 1. You can qualify for early ticket sales by becoming a member.

November 24 & 25; December 1-21

Reservation Times (per evening)

  • 5:30-6:30pm

  • 6:30-7:30pm

  • 7:30-8:30pm

  • 8:30-9:30pm

Brookgreen Gardens’ Night of a Thousand Candles

Still, many Wilmingtonians are less aware of Brookgreen Garden’s “Night of a Thousand Candles” which is considered one of the very Best Holiday Light Events in the United States. This display is spectacular in every way and considering that it’s less than two hours from here, you owe it to yourself and your family to make a visit!

Brookgreen Gardens’ is located in Murrel’s Inlet near Myrtle Beach.

Tickets must be pre-purchased and they sell out fast. The self-guided walking tours run from 4PM until 9PM and run $35 for adults and $17 for children 4-12 years old. Free admission for children under 3. The first tour date is NOV 25 and the final is DEC 31.
