Netflix’s The Waterfront Starts Filming in Wilmington Next Week

[WECT] The Netflix series The Waterfront will begin filming in Wilmington next week. Created by Kevin Williamson, known for Scream and Dawson’s Creek, the series follows the troubled Buckley family as they fight to keep their North Carolina fishing empire afloat. The show stars Holt McCallany (Mindhunter) and Maria Bello (A History of Violence). Pre-production began earlier this year, according to the Wilmington Regional Film Commission.

DEI Changes at UNCW: What It Means for Students and Staff

[WHQR] UNC Wilmington is dismantling its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) offices in response to a UNC Board of Governors mandate. This includes removing the chief DEI officer and reducing staff at cultural and identity centers. The university is re-evaluating how to support underrepresented students and maintain a balanced approach to public discourse. While some roles are shifting, UNCW is working to ensure collective responsibility for advocacy and student support, even as the campus faces uncertainty and potential challenges.

UNCW Chancellor Aswani Volety issued a press release, laying out the broad strokes of what ending DEI at UNCW would look like.
