PCP WED JUL 24: Bitcoin Conference Starts Tomorrow

IN THIS ISSUE: Gov. Cooper Addresses VP Speculation | State Board Pushes to Remove Entry Exam for Aspiring Teachers

WEDNESDAYS WITH BY THE BEACH BREWERY

Good morning Wilmington!

The 2024 Bitcoin Conference begins in Nashville tomorrow. The speaker lineup includes Donald Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cathie Wood, Michael Saylor, Russell Brand, Edward Snowden and Vivek Ramasway. Rumors are going around that Trump may make a historic message at the conference. Some are wondering if he were to become president that he would make Bitcoin a strategic reserve asset.

In addition to this news, Mt. Gox has recently distributed most or all of the Bitcoins (nearly $9 billion) that it owes trustees from being hacked in 2014. The repayment has been long feared as a bullish event since a significant amount of that $9 billion is expected to be dumped out on the market. While Bitcoin’s price has taken a hit, it’s value is largely been restored. This bearish event is nearly over. Keep an eye on Bitcoin.

State Board Pushes to Remove Entry Exam Barrier for Aspiring Teachers

[WRAL] To address rising teacher turnover, the State Board of Education recommended removing the entry exam requirement for prospective teachers, citing that it doesn't correlate with teacher effectiveness and disproportionately affects diversity. This move aims to boost teacher recruitment and retention, building on a temporary removal during the COVID-19 pandemic that increased enrollment by 35%. North Carolina faced over 2,800 K-12 teacher vacancies at the start of the 2023-24 school year.
