THURSDAYS TOGETHER WITH YOU!

Good Morning Wilmington!

I had a great meeting and conversation with Cheryl at the sbtdc office at UNCW yesterday. My goal is to grow subscribers and advertisers while gaining exposure. For now the remedy is advertising and networking. I’ve started running a Facebook ad so be on the lookout! Also, I’ll be out-and-about more often enjoying our live music in our awesome town! Hope to see you out in the Port City!

You can help me…you know when you have something so special that you want to hide it away and keep it for yourself? Well this ain’t it! The more you share Port City Pulse, the more joy it brings!

Speaking of sharing…here’s today’s issue–

Bar Owners Score Partial Win in Lawsuit Against NC Governor over Lockdowns

[News & Observer] The North Carolina Court of Appeals deemed partial business closures during the pandemic partly unconstitutional, siding with the NC Bar and Tavern Association's claim against Governor Cooper's differing treatment of bars and restaurants. While the ruling offers limited compensation opportunities for bar owners, it highlights Cooper's lack of scientific evidence to justify the disparate treatment. Both sides may appeal the decision.

PFAS pollution deemed a serious global threat by UN Expert

[WECT] PFAS pollution in North Carolina has been deemed a violation of human rights by UN Special Rapporteur Marcos Orellana. He sent allegation letters to the U.S., Netherlands, DuPont, and Corteva, expressing concerns about toxic substances. The U.S. is yet to respond. Orellana emphasizes PFAS as a global threat and highlights breaches of international law, such as hazardous waste exportation from the Netherlands. Failure to engage could undermine the U.S.'s human rights reputation.
