Good morning Wilmington.

Donald Trump was shot in the ear during an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler, PA on Saturday, 13, 2024 at 6:11 PM. The suspect, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks will shot and killed by the Secret Service seconds after Trump was shot. Thankfully Donald Trump is alive and doing well; however tragically an audience member, Corey Comperatore was killed while shielding his family from stray bullets during the incident.

This is one of those defining moments in history–at least politically the world may never be the same. We may learn a lot in the next few days. I’ll be sure to share what I find. Here are some of the first words from the key players associated with this traumatic event.

“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

“We want a world where respect is paramount, family is first and love transcends.” The winds of change have arrived. For those of you who cry in support, I thank you. I commend those of you who have reached out beyond the political divide…”

“…I’m grateful to hear that he’s safe and doing well. I’m praying for him and his family and for all those who were at the rally, as we await further information.

Jill and I are grateful to the Secret Service for getting him to safety. There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”

“…Doug and I are relieved that he is not seriously injured. We are praying for him, his family, and all those who have been injured and impacted by this senseless shooting.

We are grateful to the United States Secret Service, first responders, and local authorities for their immediate action. Violence such as this has no place in our nation.

We must all condemn this abhorrent act and do our part to ensure that it does not lead to more violence.”

“…I want everyone to know…He was the best dad a girl could ever ask for….He could talk and make friends with anyone, which is what he was doing all day yesterday and loved every minute of it. He was a man of God, love Jesus fiercely and looked after our church an dour members of as a family.”

“The media will not tell you that he died a real-life super hero. They are not going to tell you how quickly he threw my mom and I to the ground. They are not going to tell you that he shielded my body from the bullet that came at us.”

On Friday I posted a “Where am I.” I was going to post the answer today but the news cycle had other plans. Here’s the same image from Monday zoomed out a bit. Do you know where the picture was taken? Go to my instagram page for clues. Winner gets a prize from this local establishment.
