UNCW pausing Razor Walker Awards following year of controversy

[WECT] UNCW's Razor Walker Awards, an annual recognition for commitment to the state's children presented by the Watson College of Education, will be on hiatus for the 2024 cycle. The university cites a need to review and potentially reimagine the award's processes and procedures based on input from faculty, staff, and the Chancellor's Cabinet. This decision follows controversy during the previous awards, where Senator Michael Lee's recognition sparked protests due to his support for the "Parent’s Bill of Rights." A committee will be formed in the spring semester to assess the awards. The dean of Watson College of Education, Dr. Van Dempsey, departed shortly after the contentious ceremony.

Watch A Biltmore Christmas Tonight @ 10PM on the Hallmark Channel

[HALLMARK CHANNEL] A Biltmore Christmas, a Hallmark holiday film, centers around Lucy Hardgrove, a screenwriter tasked with remaking a classic Christmas movie filmed at the historic Biltmore House in 1947. When the studio disapproves of Lucy's altered ending, she visits the Biltmore Estate for inspiration and unexpectedly discovers a time-traveling ability linked to an hourglass. Transported to the 1947 movie set, she bonds with Jack Huston, one of the stars, jeopardizing the film's production. To set things right and safeguard the future, Lucy must navigate the challenges of the past. Filmed entirely at the Biltmore estate in Asheville, North Carolina, the movie blends romance, time travel, and the charm of the iconic location to create a festive, nostalgic experience for viewers.
