Panera Bread’s Charged Lemonade blamed for a second death

[TODAY] A second death allegedly linked to Panera Bread's Charged Lemonade has resulted in a lawsuit. Dennis Brown of Florida, who had a chromosomal deficiency disorder, drank three Charged Lemonades and suffered a fatal cardiac arrest. Previously, an Ivy League student, Sarah Katz, died after consuming the same beverage. The lawsuits argue that Panera failed to warn about the drink's ingredients, including guarana extract. The lemonade, promoted as "plant-based and clean," contains 390mg of caffeine in a large cup, exceeding the total caffeine in Panera's dark roast coffee–fhe Food and Drug Administration says healthy adults can safely consume 400 milligrams of caffeine a day. Panera, expressing sympathy, denies any product causation. The family's lawsuit aims to raise awareness about the alleged dangers of the drink.

UNCW students and staff deal with the challenges of AI

[The Seahawk] The prevalence of artificial intelligence (AI) in university settings raises concerns about academic integrity. The rise of platforms like ChatGPT has led to a surge in students using AI for assignments, impacting the value of degrees. Professors struggle to detect AI-generated work, prompting some to consider banning its use. While some students find AI beneficial for generating ideas, others express reservations about potential misinformation and plagiarism risks. Despite attempts to regulate AI use on campuses, enforcing bans proves challenging. The ethical implications of relying on AI in education become evident in instances where AI generates false information, emphasizing the need for responsible usage and education.
