New Hanover School Board Debates Policies, Budget, and Leadership

[QWHQR] The New Hanover County School Board welcomed three new members, appointed a Republican chair and vice-chair in bipartisan votes, and discussed the search for a permanent superintendent. Topics included budget planning, student and teacher advocacy for diverse representation and school safety, and a partnership with Voyage, a nonprofit providing health workers to select schools. Debate over Voyage's DEI focus sparked disagreement. The board plans a January work session for superintendent selection and will continue discussions on funding and policies impacting education.
